Welcome to the Duck Hollow Discovery Learning Center's home on web. Duck
Hollow is a private center established for the care and development of children
ages 2 months to 8 years. Founded in 1987, we pride ourselves on providing a
high quality, stimulating environment where children can explore and develop
skills as well as motivate creativity. Our goal is to help prepare your children
for the future.
Duck
Hollow currently offers two locations for your convenience. Duck Hollow
Learning Center is located along the National Pike (Route 40), just west of
Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and The Cubs Den, a cooperative venture with Penn State
University's Fayette Campus, is located just North of Uniontown along Route 119
within the Penn State Fayette Campus. Both Centers are licensed by the
Department of Public Welfare, are National Association for the Education of
Young Children (NAEYC)
accredited, and are
Keystone STARS
"4-Star" rated facilities.
Our
well-trained staff provides diverse learners with a multitude of experiences
that will enrich them socially, emotionally, morally, and intellectually. Our
Center is a wonderful place for children to learn and grow, to develop
self-esteem and friendships, and to celebrate and share accomplishments. Our
students leave with a sound academic foundation, a lifelong love of learning,
and a positive self-worth.
Our approach to education is based on discovery learning. The students will
learn through hands-on activities by exploring our diverse learning centers.
Our literature-based curriculum also places emphasis on making connections in
all subject areas. We use our stories, characters, settings, plots and language
to construct our lessons in math, science, writing, art, and dramatic play.
This allows your child to envelop all aspects of the story.
Our facility has Labor and Industry approval and not only meets, but exceeds all state safety requirements. Some facility safety features include emergency exits with safety doors, heat and smoke detecting system wired directly to the police and fire departments, and a monitoring observation system.
